A good start is half the work. This is especially true for this exam, because it is quite short and it’s important to present yourself positively from the beginning.

When you enter the room, there will be two examiners. This is your chance to greet them before the recording starts. Use “Dia daoibh” because you are speaking to more than one person.

You may be asked questions like these at the beginning:

• Conas a tháinig tú anseo inniu?
  How did you get here today?

• An raibh an trácht ceart go leor nó dona? Conas mar a bhí an trácht?
  Was the traffic okay or bad? What was the traffic like?

• Ar tháinig aon duine in éineacht leat? Cá bhfuil sé/sí anois?
  Did anyone come with you? Where are they now?

• Cé chomh fada a thóg sé ort teacht anseo inniu?
  How long did it take you to get here today?

Mar sin, bí réidh do na ceisteanna seo. Mar shampla:
So, be ready for these questions. For example:

• Tháinig mé sa charr / ar an mbus.
  I came by car / by bus.

• Ní raibh an trácht ró-dhona.
  The traffic wasn’t too bad.

• Tháinig mo dhaid in éineacht liom. Tá sé sa chaifé anois.
  My dad came with me. He’s in the café now.

• Thóg sé fiche nóiméad / leathuair an chloig.
  It took twenty minutes / half an hour.

You don’t need to be perfect-Be friendly and clear the start and this will help your confidence!
